DESCRIPTION
The patented C-A-T® was found to be 100% effective in occluding blood flow of an extremity from a traumatic wound with significant hemorrhage, according to the February 2008 supplement of The Journal of Trauma. The Gen 7 C-A-T® employs a windlass system with internal band for true circumferential pressure when tightened, to stanch bleeding. Additionally, a hook and loop windlass retention strap is provided for secure casualty evacuation. Since 2005, the C-A-T® has been the Official Tourniquet of the U.S. Army, featuring a special red tip design and protected by U.S. Patent Nos. 7,842,067 and 7,892,253.
