1st Choice CPR was founded in 2004 by Lori Covington, an RN at a local hospital. At the time, Lori and her husband had two biological children and were in the process of becoming foster parents to share their home and love with more children in their community. During a foster parent training class, the facilitator asked if anyone could teach CPR, AED, and First Aid certification to the foster parents. Already a CPR instructor at the hospital, Lori stepped up. With the support and prayers of her family and friends, 1st Choice CPR has grown into what it is today—training thousands of students each year. The impact has been profound, with countless lives saved by those trained through 1st Choice CPR in our neighborhoods and workplaces.
