Cost/Registration/Certification Cards:
Do you offer free courses?
No, we do not offer free courses. We are a private company and must pay rent, instructors and
classroom materials-we do not receive funds from the American Heart Association or any other
organization.
How do I register for a course or skills test session?
Registration can be done on our website, or by emailing us at:
info@1stChoiceCPR.com or by
calling our office at: 330-415-4401.
What type of payment do you accept?
We accept cash, credit and debit cards. We do not accept personal checks. We can invoice
some businesses. Call to get more details.
Course Completion Cards?
When will I receive my course completion or provider card?
For AHA courses (BLS, ACLS, PALS) you will receive written verification on our letterhead that
states that you successfully completed the course at the end of the class if you pass. The eCard
is usually sent out within 1-2 business days. If you have not received it after 72 hours (3 days),
please contact our office at 330-415-4401.
ASHI cards are given at the conclusion of the class unless your employer has paid for you class
and requested that they be mailed them directly to them.
I need my course completion card right away. How can you help me get my card quickly?
We offer private classes, but suggest blended courses if you need certification right away since
these are quicker and easier to schedule than a private session.
How long is my card valid?
ASHI and AHA courses are all 2 year certifications except for BBP. It is a one year certification
per OSHA.
I lost my course completion card(s) How do I get a replacement?
If you lost your ASHI card, we can make you a replacement card for a small fee. Please contact
us via email or phone 330-415-4401. We will need your name, email address and employer (if
they paid for your class) and approximate date that you took the course.
If you lost your AHA Card, it’s not lost! It’s an eCard. It should still be available in your email.
You can also access your AHA eCard via:
https://ecards.heart.org/student/myecards
If you provided your phone number you can claim your ecard via text, text the word
“eCard” to “51736”
Is there any difference in the course completion cards issued if I take the classroom course versus the
blended learning course.
It is the exact same card issued for both the blended course and classroom course.
Course Questions:
What is the difference between the ASHI and CPR AHA BLS CPR provider courses?
ASHI is geared towards the general public/non healthcare professionals. For example, coaches,
childcare providers, parents, independent providers, industrial workers etc.
AHA BLS is geared towards healthcare professionals. For example, nurses, physical/occupational
therapists, dentists and hygiene professionals, physicians, pharmacists and students of these
professions. **Note that BLS Provider is the new title that replaced the former “BLS for
Healthcare Providers,” it is still the required course for all those who work in a professional
healthcare capacity.
What should I wear?
The class involves hands-on practice so it is best if you wear comfortable clothes that you can
move around in. If you have long hair, it’s best to wear it back.
What if I feel like I need a review course before my card expires?
If you took the course through 1 st Choice CPR, you may sit in on the class as a review at no cost
any time during that certification period. A new certification card will not be issued for the
review.
My employer/school told me that they will not accept online CPR courses. Does that mean that I must
take the classroom version of your course?
No, that means you cannot take the CPR course completely online. ALL of our CPR courses
require an in person hands on practice and testing. We train literally thousands of students a
year and have never had one of our cards not be accepted by an employer or school.
Will I have to share a manikin with another student?
Everyone has their own manikin for the duration of the class.
Do I need to bring a pocket mask to class?
Barrier devices are provided at class. You are, however, welcome to bring your own or purchase
one at class.
Can I renew my BLS the same day that I take the ACLS or PALS class?
You can renew your BLS certification on the same day as your ACLS & PALS class for an
additional $25. There is a required skills testing and a 25 question written exam. The amount of time
needed to complete the BLS requirements will vary by student. Overall, this is a much quicker and less
expensive alternative rather than taking the BLS course on a separate date/time than ACLS or PALS.
We have a group that needs to take classes. Will you come to our facility?
Yes, we would love to come to your facility and hold a class! Contact us today to set up a class.
We have a group of 30 or less people that need training, but we don’t have a location to hold a class.
Are we able to have a “private class” just for our staff at your facility?
Yes, depending our facility schedule, we can definitely hold a class just for your staff. There is no extra
charge. But like offsite private classes, we do charge for a small minimum number of students. Please
contact us for more information.
